Bridal Indulgence bride Jayne met her now-husband Will 2002, when Jayne’s brother Alex introduced her to an album by Will’s band. “My brother Alex introduced me to an album by a local band,” Jayne explained when we asked her how she met her now-husband. “Will was in the band and touring and living life on the road!
“We had mutual friends and we even went to the same parties but we just kept missing each other. It wasn’t until 2006 that we finally met for the first time and realised we worked in the same building in Waterloo.
“It took just a few more years for our paths to keep crossing before we realised that we had a special connection.”
13 years later and the pair had a casual outdoor wedding at the relaxed and unique venue, Rivervale Barn. Bridal Indulgence bride Jayne wore the gorgeous Fladdra bodysuit by Willowby, matching it with a long tulle skirt and simple pearl jewellery.
Why did you choose to wear Fladdra by Willowby?
“I discovered the Willowby Fladdra bodysuit online and I immediately fell in love. I did a little research on local wedding suppliers for Willowby and that’s when I found Bridal Indulgence.
“Kerri invited me down and suggested that I tried some of the other wedding dresses at Bridal Indulgence, and knowing that she had great taste, I agreed. But my heart stopped when I walked through the door and saw that Kerri managed to get the Fladdra sample in for me! I think I did a little dance in the doorway!”
How did you feel when you tried Fladdra by Willowby on?
“I couldn’t stop twirling in front of the mirror and seeing the beads sparkle as each one caught the light. It was so comfortable too. I did try on some other beautiful dresses too but we unanimously agreed that the Fladdra suited my shape best.
“Other than altering the size a little, I borrowed a tulle belt from my maid of honour and we attached some lace flowers to the belt from my mum’s wedding dress which draped down the back. We matched Fladdra by Willowby with a dreamy tulle skirt.
“I am very excited to wear my wedding dress again in the future. For my next big special event, I can imagine I will pair the top with a shorter black skirt for an art deco look!”

What accessories did you choose?
“As the body of my wedding dress was covered in beads, I felt that I shouldn’t pair it with a lot of jewellery or it would be an overkill.
“I wore a beautiful pearl-style bracelet that my bridesmaids Mel and Lucy bought me. These matched my pearl earrings by Britten Weddings, which my Grandma bought me.
“I also picked up a gorgeous embellished kimono from River Island (of all places!) in case it got chilly in the evening. The quality was amazing and it gave me a really special alternative to wear over my dress.”
How about your shoes?
“I wanted a comfortable pair of shoes that I could wear outside throughout the day, without sinking into the grass! So, I got some sparkly wedges from Moda in Pelle; they had straps and a beautiful gold thread running through them.”
How was your Bridal Indulgence experience?
“Kerri was absolutely brilliant. She was welcoming, easy to talk to and made the experience both simple and special. Kerri has the most beautiful selection of dresses and she was comfortable directing me between dresses within my budget, I can’t thank her enough!
“Kerri also has a great eye for unique, modern elegance and her stunning boutique is a must-visit for every bride.”
Where did you get married?
“We got married at Rivervale Barn because of the new outdoor Spinney. We’re not a formal couple and we wanted a relaxed atmosphere. The Spinney is beautiful and the European-styled courtyard worked perfectly for our street food wedding breakfast.
“The overall theme was a sort of glamorous-bohemian, basically combining something special into a natural, romantic outdoor setting.”

What was your favourite thing about your wedding venue?
“We loved that our dog Freyja could join us. She’s such an important part of our family and that really made a difference when choosing our venue.”
Who was your wedding photographer and how did you choose them?
“We chose Lilybean Photography because their photos are light and beautiful and because they have a relaxed approach to wedding photography, which is what we needed. Both of us are terrible at posing for cameras, but Lisa and Ady made us laugh throughout the day and captured those small moments.”
Where did you get your hair/makeup done?
“Melissa Clare is my maid of honour Mel’s business. Mel specialises in naturally beautiful hair and makeup. I was so lucky to have her exceptional talent and calming nature on the day. She knew I loved plaits but encouraged me to consider a few different looks to try out, and to my surprise, I loved a half plait-ponytail!
“It was soft enough to contrast the detail of my dress without being too fussy and Mel gave me a stunning sparkly eyeshadow to match. The girls then decorated my hair with real flowers supplied by our florist and gold leaf jewels for a unique style.
“I just gave her some basic ideas and let her do what she does best. She is an artist and goes into detail beyond your expectations.”
How did you choose your flowers?
“I chose Tina from Flower Monkey because she has a gorgeous and natural style that was exactly what I was looking for. We used lots of foliage with eucalyptus, bombastic roses and anemones for a romantic natural display.
“I was also christened on H.M.S. Warrior so we also included a Warrior rosebud in the bouquet. Tina also decorated our table displays and the aisle with modern geometric gold lanterns and was absolutely brilliant helping us decorate the venue, she really went above and beyond to make our day special.”
Where did Will get his outfit?
“Will is not keen on wearing formal suits and specified that he wanted the option of being barefoot or wearing espadrilles. I was happy with this rather than his idea of wearing a Velcro onesie for comfort.
“With that in mind, he picked up a light, linen-style suit from Next. It was slightly before the summer collection had come out so he was accompanied by my maid of honour and a fantastic tailor, both of who found Will the perfect suit that made him feel both smart and comfortable. We know he polishes up well – he made his mum so proud!”
Tell us about your bridesmaids
“My bridesmaids wore a blush pink to match the springtime flowers and my bridesmaid Lucy set the trend for sparkles by picking her dress first! I let them pick their own dresses but they had to go with my wedding’s theme, so I ordered a lot of dresses for them to try on together, taking into account their preferred lengths and styles.
“I wanted them all to have something that they genuinely loved and could keep for the future. Mel wore the Mulan Maxi Dress by Lace and Beads, Lucy wore the Maya Tulle Midi Dress by Asos and Bev wore a high neck embellished gown also by Lace and Beads.”

Where did you get your wedding stationery?
“I am a Graphic Designer so I made our wedding stationery! We had a samoyed stamp made which was placed in gold wax and placed with a leaf on each service booklet.
“I kept the order of service booklet informative with a timeline, questions and thank yous to our suppliers. It also included a survival guide which matched Will’s sarcasm and was helpful for introverts, as well as a wedding games insert so that people could play ‘Guess Who Did It’ while they waited.”

What entertainment did you have?
“We had the most amazing guitar duet, The Duel, who performed some of our favourite pieces of music. We had classical during the service, including Fauré’s Pavane for the procession, because I always loved playing it on the cello.
“Then we kicked off the celebrations with Metallica’s Orion, which is Will’s favourite instrumental, followed by a talented acoustic selection of flamenco, rock and metal by Rodrigo Y Gabriela throughout the day. They were faultless.”
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
“The most memorable moment for me was walking down the aisle with my dad, surrounded by family and friends, and seeing Will waiting for me. It was at that moment that reality hit me and I was aware that we were actually getting married and not just talking about it. That was such a special moment.
“Another really cool memory from my wedding day was an unusual sundog effect in the sky during the evening which created an unusual halo in the sky. It was so unusual and felt really special as it marked the start of a new chapter.”
Finally, what’s your wedding advice for brides who are just about to get married?
“The small details get lost and it’s not worth having arguments with anyone.
“Relax, have fun and create memories to last a lifetime. By all means, have a plan, but do bare in mind that on the day things won’t go entirely to plan, so just embrace it and have fun. Whatever happens was meant to happen.”
