A Basque Waist Wedding Dress for a Beautiful Millbridge Court Wedding
For our beautiful bride Hannah, the moment she put on the Valentina gown by House of Flora at Bridal Indulgence, she instantly felt entirely and beautifully herself.
Read on as we catch up with Hannah and hear all about her stunning wedding at Millbridge Court in Farnham.
We always love to hear how our brides met their other halves, and Hannah and Nathan’s story begins with an unforgettable moment involving a deep-purple, impossible-to-remove lipstick.
“We met through a big group of mutual friends… I wasn’t having the best day, and Nathan decided to cheer me up in the weirdest way, by putting on a deep purple lipstick,” Hannah told us. The lipstick didn’t budge all evening and looked completely ridiculous, but it made Hannah laugh - exactly what she needed. “After that, we just started talking more. Everything felt easy. We clicked pretty much straight away.”
And the proposal? Nathan had planned the entire proposal down to the final detail, despite having zero guidance, as Hannah admitted she “hadn’t really told him” what she’d like. But he got it absolutely right.
During a trip to Barcelona, he guided her through the almost-empty Parc del Laberint d'Horta at golden hour. “He said he’d ask two people to take a photo… and then he got down on one knee. I was so shell-shocked I couldn’t remember what he said, only that I needed to remember to say yes! I was over the moon. The setting was incredible, the ring was perfect.”
The “photographers” were, in fact, part of the plan, all arranged by Nathan with a local proposal planner. The couple enjoyed an impromptu engagement shoot and then celebrated with cocktails, steak and a long, joy-filled debrief whilst calling their friends and family to share the joyous news.
The Dress Experience
Hannah first met Kerri at Millbridge Court’s Details Date Night.
“Kerri was so lovely and walked me through everything such as when to start shopping, what to expect. I knew from that moment I’d be heading straight to Bridal Indulgence when the time came.”
Hannah came to her appointments with her mum, maid of honour Amy and bridesmaid Alice, later returning with bridesmaid Caroline when it was time for the final decision.
“I knew I wanted an A-line dress. I didn’t think lace was ‘me’, but I kept an open mind. I didn’t want to accidentally rule out the perfect dress.”
Trying on gowns quickly became one of her favourite parts of wedding planning.
“It felt like another really important piece of the puzzle falling into place.”
Her reaction said everything.
“My mum caught it on camera, me looking in the mirror and saying, ‘oh my god.’ I felt so much like me.”
The Dress
The dress was Valentina by House of Flora: elegant, sculpted and romantic, with a Basque waist and long, effortless train.
“In other dresses I felt like I was dressing up as a bride. In Valentina, I actually felt like the bride.”
Although the dress stretched her budget (which she knew before trying on the dress), Kerri encouraged her to take her time and not rush into the decision. “Two months later, I came back and finally said yes to the dress!”
“I adored the simplicity. The Basque waist, the train… everything felt elegant and effortless. And it was so lightweight, which was a huge bonus, I wanted to wear my dress all day.”
For the evening, she added the pearl sleeves that come with Valentina. “It felt like such a fun way to transition into the night.”
The basque waist emerged as one of the standout bridal trends of 2025, and it’s set to be even bigger for 2026. Loved for its beautifully flattering shape, this timeless design continues to captivate modern brides. You can see the full Bridal Indulgence collection of wedding dresses with basque waists here.
The beauty of choosing a minimalist gown is being able to accessorise in different ways and really make it your own. And for Hannah this was with pearls, pearls and more pearls! “I wore a beautiful pair of earrings from Accessorize that I’d bought before we were even engaged and had worn to almost every wedding-related occasion. My bridesmaids gifted me a stunning pearl bracelet, and my mum bought me the loveliest pearl necklace both of which were perfect for the day. Nathan was also incredibly generous and surprised me with a beautiful necklace that I changed into when I put on my pearl sleeves.
Not wanting to take anything away from the dress, Hannah chose a long plain tulle veil from Bridal Indulgence, which perfectly completed her look.
The Wedding
Hannah and Nathan looked at a number of different wedding venues, but nothing compared to Millbridge Court. “It was the first venue that truly felt like us.” The airy halls, huge windows and beautiful indoor ceremony space were instant winners. “And when we tried Kalm Kitchen’s brownies, that absolutely sealed the deal.”
Hannah chose to walk down the aisle by herself. “I was the most nervous I’ve ever been in my life… but the moment I saw him, it was like we were the only two people there.” Despite being nervous about having all eyes on her, the moment felt intimate and grounding. “It ended up being one of my favourite parts of the whole day.”
“We wanted the day to feel personal,” Hannah said and it truly did.
Some of their thoughtful details included:
Their friend Thom singing a favourite Noah Kahan song during the signing
Drink reception napkins printed with their dog Otto’s face
Confetti made from petals from her mum’s and grandma’s gardens
A group first dance with all their guests
The whole day was filled with love and laughter. “We’re both pretty laid back, and we wanted the day to feel relaxed and full of love. It was everything we hoped for.”
And one of Hannah’s most memorable moments? “At the end of the night, being on the dancefloor belting Don’t Look Back in Anger with all our favourite people… that moment is locked in for life.”
Hannah’s Advice to Brides-to-Be
“Take your time. Enjoy the experience. Don’t rush choosing your dress, it's one of the best parts of wedding planning, so savour it.”
A huge thank you to Hannah and Nathan for letting us share their beautiful wedding day.
