A minimalist Jenny Yoo wedding dress for an intimate Vancouver wedding

For Bridal Indulgence bride Aden, finding her minimalist wedding dress began with a love for Jenny Yoo’s effortlessly elegant designs.

After discovering our bridal boutique, she travelled to Farnham with three of her closest friends in search of the one. Although one particular gown was not on her shortlist to begin with, it became the dress that stole her heart.

Aden chose the Jenny Yoo Alora gown for her intimate oceanfront wedding in Vancouver.

Wearing the stunning Jenny Yoo Alora gown, Aden married Brendan in an intimate oceanfront wedding in Vancouver, Canada, surrounded by their closest family. From a romantic proposal among the vineyards of Bordeaux to golden hour vows overlooking the mountains, their day was beautifully understated, elegant and completely personal to them.

A romantic proposal in Bordeaux

Like many modern love stories, Aden and Brendan first met on Hinge.

Their first date took place just before Christmas in 2019, followed quickly by a second date during that quiet period between Christmas and New Year. It was on that second date that Aden met Brendan’s closest friends.

“I knew right away that he was someone very special and that I wanted him in my life for a long time,” she says.

A few years later, the couple travelled to Bordeaux, France, to celebrate a friend’s wedding near Saint-Émilion. Making the most of the trip, they hired a car and explored the surrounding vineyards.

One recommendation led them to the family-run Château de la Grave, where they were greeted by a Great Pyrenees, Brendan’s favourite dog breed, sitting in the middle of the road. After a relaxed wine tasting, Brendan suggested they explore the grounds.

Walking through fields of wildflowers overlooking the vineyards, he got down on one knee.

“We both cried, and it truly felt like time stood still.”

Finding Bridal Indulgence

When Aden and Brendan decided on an intimate wedding, she began searching for a minimalist wedding dress that would suit the setting, the size of the day and the feeling she wanted to create.

“I came across Jenny Yoo and instantly fell in love with her minimalist style and designs,” Aden explains. “I started looking for boutiques that carried a wide selection of her collection and discovered Bridal Indulgence.”

From the beginning, Aden knew our boutique felt like somewhere she wanted to visit.

“I loved its authenticity, the sense of girlhood it embodied and its beautiful farm setting.”

She arrived with a clear idea of what she was looking for.

“I knew I wanted something simple and sleek. Because of the intimate size of our wedding and the style of our venue, I wanted my dress to complement the overall atmosphere.”

A self-confessed Pinterest enthusiast, Aden had created a mood board centred around three words for the wedding: whimsical, romance and joyful elegance.

Saying yes to the Jenny Yoo Alora gown

Aden travelled to our Farnham bridal boutique with three of her closest friends, turning the appointment into a full day out together.

“It really captured the essence of girlhood,” she says. “I felt incredibly loved and celebrated.”

Although one of her friends suggested trying on the Jenny Yoo Alora gown, Aden was not convinced at first.

“I actually said no the first time.”

After trying several other dresses, Kerri suggested giving Alora a chance too. Thankfully, she did.

“The moment I put it on, I knew. I felt confident, beautiful and completely myself.”

Seeing her friends’ reactions confirmed everything.

“It was such a special feeling and I’ll never forget seeing the girls’ faces light up.”

That moment is often what makes a bridal appointment so special. Sometimes the dress that feels right is not the one a bride expected to choose. For Aden, trusting the people around her helped her find the gown that suited her completely.

With a shorter engagement, timing was important too, and we were delighted to arrange a rush order so Aden’s dress arrived in plenty of time for the big day.

Styling the minimalist bridal look

The clean lines of Aden’s Jenny Yoo wedding dress gave her the modern, minimalist look she had been searching for. But it was the styling details that made the outfit feel completely her.

Originally, Aden imagined wearing a lace bolero. That changed when Sarah suggested trying on the Jenny Yoo Belinda cape.

“As soon as Sarah pulled out the cape for me to try on, I knew it was meant to be part of my wedding look.”

The cape added the whimsical element Aden had been looking for, while keeping the overall look modern and understated.

Her Baroque cultured pearl earrings were another special find, discovered during an impromptu trip to Camden Passage in Islington with friends.

“It felt completely meant to be.”

The Jenny Yoo Alora gown also comes with a bridal scarf, giving Aden a beautiful second look for after the ceremony.

An intimate wedding overlooking the ocean

After considering both a larger wedding and a smaller celebration, Aden and Brendan chose an intimate ceremony so their grandparents could be there to celebrate with them.

Their ceremony took place at Ferguson Point Park, overlooking the ocean and mountains, before everyone made their way to The Teahouse in Vancouver for dinner as the sun began to set.

“Our wedding day was intimate, meaningful and incredibly special,” says Aden.

With just five guests from each family, every person present had played an important role in their lives.

“Our marriage is a reflection of our village and the people who have supported us along the way.”

Looking back, one memory stands above everything else.

“The ceremony was my favourite moment. It took place just before golden hour, overlooking the ocean and the mountains. Everyone was so happy, and the whole experience felt like something out of a movie. I couldn’t believe it was my real life.”

Aden’s advice for brides

When asked what advice she would give to other brides beginning their wedding dress shopping journey, Aden’s answer is simple.

“Be open to suggestions from the people who know you best, as well as the people who know the dresses.

Had she stayed with her original plan, she may never have tried the Jenny Yoo Alora gown that became her dream dress. Instead, by trusting the advice of her friends and her bridal stylist, she found a wedding dress that made her feel confident, beautiful and completely herself.

And sometimes, that is exactly how you know you have found the one.
